Hello and welcome to my printmaking site. Thanks for taking the time to have a browse.

Art has the power to evoke an emotional response in a viewer like no other creative medium. To a large degree I believe the role of the designer and artist is to present an alternative interpretation of our world that encourages the viewer to think and perceive things differently and perhaps reflect back on themselves.

My work combines formal training in design with the more expressive mediums available through printmaking to produce a range of print series and individual creative pieces that I hope sparks interest and engages the audience.

Different printmaking mediums create vastly different styles, tones and feel. Early explorations into collagraph, monoprint and drypoint methods rendered a painterly and free style. The more recent VOICE and Power+Pop series were photographically based utilising solar plates and had a pop/punk poster style of the 60’s and 70’s.

For the past 18-months I have been drawn to the humble linocut, a medium I first experienced back in 2011. The current printmaking series Soul Courageous is more personal and has a focus on portraying human stories, in particular those representing courage and the resilience of the human spirit, from tragedy to triumph; fear to freedom; loneliness to love.

Please enjoy the work that I have produced over the past 8-years and feel free to drop me a message. If you have any questions about print processes and themes, or would like to purchase a print I would be pleased to reply. I hope to see you at my next exhibition in May 2019 at Fern Street Gallery, Gerringong.

All the best, Kelvin.
