WORKSHOPS

Printmaking Workshops

Since 2002, Kim and Kelvin Taylor have been lovingly crafting Waymount Farm to become a retreat centre offering luxury accommodation with creative and wellbeing retreats. It is planned printmaking and creative retreats will be held from late 2017 offering guests an introduction to printmaking set in a wonderful surrounding.

The printmaking retreats will provide an introductory level of printmaking for beginners. Experienced printmakers are welcome to work independently and will enjoy the beautiful and peaceful country setting of a source of creative inspiration. The creative retreats will cater for a maximum of 8 participants, although there is ample accommodation on the property for 12 or more people should guests wish to simply relax and rejuvenate.

The short-stay printmaking retreats will feature self catered accommodation, where guests can combine luxury accommodation and relaxation with creative expression, in a beautiful country setting. Guests will arrive on Friday afternoon/early evening for orientation, room check-in and supper. The workshops will commence on Saturday morning with classes held over Saturday and Sunday.

The beautiful property provides ample opportunity for creative inspiration combined with relaxation and reflection. If desired pampering and massage can be arranged through third party operators who will set up at the property.

When are the retreats?

It is currently planned for the retreats to commence in November 2017.

Retreat format

Retreats will be hosted by Kelvin Taylor who has been studying printmaking at Hazelhurst Community Gallery and Art Centre for 6 years and has showed work at exhibitions since 2014. It is planned that printmaking and creative retreats be held from November 2017. The retreats run for 2 days and include 2 nights twin share accommodation at Waymount Farm in the Shoalhaven. A maximum of 8 participants are accepted for each retreat.

The primary printmaking medium that will be explored is that of photopolymer (solar) plates. The beauty of this medium is its low toxicity and quick and simple plate production. Plates are exposed in the sun and washed out in water and ready to print within 30 minutes. Guests will learn how to make a plate and create a unique artwork of their own making.

Stay tuned for updates as we complete the fitout of the printmaking studio. In the meantime keep an eye out for printmaking exhibitions that Kelvin is holding. ‘Power & Pop’ is being held at Gauge Gallery, Glebe from 28th February – 12th March 2017.
