Monday’s with John & Yoko (2013 – 2016)

‘Monday’s with John & Yoko’ is a print series born out of the broader ‘Protest’ print series that is an extensive collection of over 100 prints first exhibited at the MG Gallery at Scarborough, NSW in 2014. The central theme of the the John & Yoko series is the notion of Lennon and Ono as pacifists and protestors for peace and the seeming contradictions that arose through their association with the Black Panther Party. Images explore various events that all occurred on a Monday from Yoko Ono’s Tea Party in 1956 through to Lennon’s death in December 1980.

The style of the work has been influenced by the pop and punk movements of the 1960’s and 1970’s and contemporary street art. The predominant print medium is photopolymer (solar) plate intaglio printing with applied photocopies, spray stencils hand drawing and assembly. As a result the majority of works are produced as one-off unique variations rather than editions.
